How counselling and therapy can help you

In a safe private and confidential space, therapy allows you to explore your emotional issues with an experienced, qualified professional who will not be critical or judgmental about the anxieties and fears you face in the way family or friends may. To be given time to reflect and to be helped by an experienced, qualified and understanding therapist can enable you to see things more clearly, and free your potential to make positive changes in your life.
Counselling and psychotherapy can be suitable for anyone wishing to develop greater self-awareness and understanding. It can enable the individual to find more appropriate ways of being and coping with difficulties. By developing an awareness of the unconscious energies which motivate you, it becomes possible to experience a greater sense of freedom, personal authority, contentment and happiness.
I am experienced in providing therapeutic help to anyone who is struggling with difficulties such as :


• stress and anxiety
• losses such as bereavement, divorce or redundancy
• lack of confidence, self-esteem or feelings of underachievement
• making or sustaining relationships
• continued involvement in unsatisfactory or destructive relationships
• depressed feelings, sadness or emptiness
• lack of a sense of purpose in life
• unresolved issues from the past
• sexuality, including gay, lesbian or bisexual issues
• problems at work
• family conflicts


My qualifications

Teacher’s Certificate, (Univ. of  London);  Dip. Advanced Educational Studies / Child Care,  (Newcastle upon Tyne) ; Bachelor of Philosophy/ Child Care,  (Newcastle upon Tyne) ; Master of Arts / Psychoanalysis, (Sheffield) ; Advanced Dip. in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice, (Roehampton) ; Advanced Dip. in Clinical Psychodynamic Studies, (Westminster Pastoral Foundation).
Member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling  (FPC) ;Member of  the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).


Fees

I am committed to making my services available to as many people as possible. My fees at this time are £45 per session though this can be negotiated.  The following guidelines will help you determine how much you would pay:


• There is minimum fee of £18 if you have no income other than benefits
• The fee is calculated according to £1 for every £1,000 of your annual household income, (for example, if your household income is £20,000 the fee will be £20).


Where I work

My practice in Totnes in South Devon is situated close to the High Street at the top of the town.
My  consulting rooms in London are situated at Parliament Hill Fields between Kentish Town and Highgate.  They are easily accessible by public  transport.

Telephone and online counselling 

For those who would wish to enter into counselling but are prevented from attending  by distance or any other obstacle I can  offer telephone  or online counselling.
